Open Licensing Made Plain: A primer on children’s book creation in the global South (2nd edition)

In 2018 we published an open licensing primer for early literacy publishers on open licensing, with a brief section for authors and illustrators. So much has changed since then that we decided to take a fresh look at the issues and challenges, this time giving full attention to content creators, such as publishers, authors, illustrators, and teacher, all of whom have a stake in producing high quality and cost effective materials for education.

Guyana market

Educational Technology Consulting Support to Ministry of Education, Guyana

NBA is providing ongoing consulting support to the Ministry of Education in Guyana in support of implementation of its ICT Master Plan. This started, though UNESCO, with support in the development of an EMIS Masterplan, with support now being provided beyond that to develop an EMIS Operational Manual and Data Management Framework as OpenEMIS is rolled out by the Community Services Foundation in the country. 

In addition, NBA is supporting the development of various related ICT Frameworks for the education system. These are:

Using UNESCO’s ICT Competency Framework for Teachers in Guyana

The ICT CFT intends to inform educational policy makers, teachereducators, providers of professional learning and working teachers on the role of ICT in educational reform, as well as to assist countries in developing national ICT competency standards for teachers with an ICT in Education Master Plan approach.

Chapter 5 - Caribbean Open Textbooks Initiative

This chapter considers both the role that Open Educational Resources (OER) can play in supporting school-level pedagogical transformation, and the policy approaches to initiate transformation in public school systems. Focusing on the context of Antigua & Barbuda, the chapter recognises that, for change to be effective, it needs to be driven at the systemic level, as this ultimately directs most public school systems’ operations.
